6 Easy Vacation Projects for Knitters & Crocheters

It's hard to choose the project to pack with you when you go on vacation. If you're like me, you pack too many or something that's too hard to deal with on planes and buses. Here are six ideas for easy, single-skein projects you can bring with you on your next get-away.

Knit Projects

1. TAATTU Socks Formula from Juliette Pécaut Designs

This is my go to easy travel project, especially on a DK yarn. Your socks will fit in small bags and keep your hands busy while your mind can wander. Some of my favorite yarns to use are Scout from Kelbourne Woolens or Merino/Nylon DK from You Knit I Dye, or make a pair of warm-weather socks using Cotton Sox from Cascade.

2. One & Done Shawl by Casapinka

We made our One & Done shawl with a single skein of Baker Street Fingering in our UNHhhh pride colorway. It's a great way to show off single skeins of variegated souvenir yarn and with stockinette and dropped stitches it's entertaining, but not too complicated. It would be absolutely dreamy in Classic Sock from East Coast Yarn.

3. Musselburgh by Ysolda Teague

Everyone loves a Musselburgh! This is a perfect way to use a single skein of souvenir yarn and can be made in any gague. Create a wintery tweed version in Cricket from Kelbourne Woolens or use Ultimate Sock from Malabrigo for a more variegated beanie.

Crochet Projects

1. Cottagecore Bandana by House of Shea

This is a quick and easy crochet project that you can immediately show off as soon as you finish. We made our sample in Botanika from Cascade Yarns, but since the pattern only needs 175yds any sport of DK weight yarn would work. I also recommend checking out Etesia from Urth Yarns.

2. No Extra Fabric Ribbed Beanie by Viv Crochets

Start your fall projects out with this easy one-skein beanie. We used a single skein of Sweater from Blue Sky Fibers for our sample, which is perfect for those who need a washable gift or are sensitive to wool. This hat would also look so cool in Rios from Malabrigo.

3. Octopus Onesiegurumi by A la Sascha

I couldn't let this list go by without showing off one of my favorite samples in the shop. We made our adorable Octobpus Onesiegurumi with a single skein of Organic Cotton Sport from Blue Sky Fibers, but this little guy can be made with any gauge yarn.
