8 Single Skein Shawls to Knit and Crochet

8 Single Skein Shawls to Knit and Crochet

I made a rule for myself that I'm not allowed to buy yarn unless I have a project for it. But I can find a project for any skein. Here are eight shawls you can make with those random skeins you buy on vacation. All of these shawls can be made with a single skein of fingering weight yarn that you can knit or crochet.

Knitting Projects

1. Hurricane Season by Barbara Benson use a single skein of Alpaca Silk Cashmere Fingering from Wild Violet Fibers or break the single skein rule and use two skeins of Mora from Malabrigo for a perfect summer shawl in 100% silk.

2. Tulippa by Kristina Vilimaite

This shawl would look beautiful in rustic Cricket from Kelbourne Woolens. Add some beads for shine or let the cables and lace work do the shining!

3. Dew Drop Scarf by Lisa Hannes

If you're looking for a warm scarf I think this one would look beautiful in Merino Possum Woolen Spun from Circus Tonic or show off the sheen of Ultimate Sock from Malabrigo.

4. One & Done Shawl by Casapinka

This isn't the first time I've recommended the One & Done Shawl. I think this is the best way to show off those beautiful single skeins of ultra-variegated fingering weight yarn we all buy on vacation. I highly recommend checking out Baker Street Fingering or Dorothy for this one!

Crochet Projects

5. Green Olive from Carmen Heffernan

I love a solid color for a lacy shawl like this so that you're showing off the stitches rather than getting lost in variegation. I think this would be perfect in Harvest Fingering from Urth Yarns.

6. Tendril Shawl by Carmen Heffernan

Yes we're doing two patterns by the same designer in a row, but look how could we not! This beautiful shawl would look so cool in Uneek Fingering from Urth Yarns. It's a perfect way to show off lightly striping yarns and pooling.

7. Fortune's Shawlette by Tamara Kelly

This lacy shawl would look so pretty in a single skein of Lucia from Dirty Water DyeWorks. This is a perfect way to show off tonals and match them with your warm weather wardrobe.

8. Party Punch Shawl by Tony Lipsey

I love the look of this simple shawl. It would be beautiful in a single skein of Classic Sock from East Coast Yarn.

What are your favorite single skein shawls?
